A New Species of Large Duck (Aves: Anatidae) from the Miocene of New Zealand

چکیده
We describe a new species of extinct duck, Miotadorna catrionae sp. nov. (Anatidae, Tadornini, Tadorninae), based on right humerus from the Miocene lacustrine deposits St Bathans, Otago, New Zealand. Principal component analysis reveals that taxon is distinguished by its large size and relative proportions. This eighth largest duck described Bathans fossil assemblage further underscores global importance this site for understanding anatid evolution.

15 صفحه اولnew semigroup compactifications via the enveloping semigroups of associated flows
this thesis deals with the construction of some function algebras whose corresponding semigroup compactification are universal with respect to some properies of their enveloping semigroups. the special properties are of beigan a left zero, a left simple, a group, an inflation of the right zero, and an inflation of the rectangular band.
15 صفحه اولA new genus and two new species of feather lice (Phthiraptera: Ischnocera: Philopteridae) from New Zealand endemic passerines (Aves: Passeriformes).
The first descriptions of New Zealand endemic feather lice belonging to the Brueelia-complex (Phthiraptera: Ischnocera: Philopteridae) are given. The new genus Melibrueelia and new species M. novaeseelandiae are described, illustrated and compared with morphologically close taxa within the complex. The type host of M. novaeseelandiae is the tui, Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae (Gmelin, 1788), and...
